Recent Events Held :

Report on the series of programmes arranged in association with Forum of Free Enterprises.

Forum of free enterprises had organized a series of eight programmes from 9th July 2004 to 13th July, 2004 on The Indirect Tax Provisions of the Union Budget 2004 – 2005 in association with CFBP (Council For Fair Business Practices) Bombay Chartered Accountants Society, Institute of Chartered Accountants of lndia, Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Indian Merchants Chamber and other organization.

The First programmes was held on Friday, 9th July 2004, at 6 p.m. at the Bombay House Auditorium, Mr. Subash Chander Gogia, Hon. Secretary & Chairman Programmes Committee welcomed the gathering and informed them about the activities of the CFBP. He further elaborated on the role played by CFBP for improving the image of businessmen and to protect the interest of Consumers.

Mr. Minoo R. Shroff, President, Forum of Free Enterprises then addressed the gathering about the pros and cons of the Budget. Mr. Dinesh Vyas, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India addressed the audience on the implications of Union Budget. He also explained the changes brought in new budget in Direct and Indirect Taxes including Service Tax.

The next seminar was held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10th July 2004,at the SIES Institute of Management Studies, at Nerul, Navi Mumbai where Mr. Dinesh Parekh, Vice President CFBP had welcomed the gathering and explicate the importance of the event. Mr. Kanu Doshi, Chartered Accountant then enlightened the gathering about Budget especially the direct taxes. Mr. Dadi B. Engineer, Advocate & Solicitor addressed the gathering on the implications of the Indirect Taxes in the new Budget.

Mr. Pramod Shah, Member (Executive Committee, CFBP) represented CFBP at the programme held on Sunday, 11th July 2004, at 10.30 a.m. at ICSI-CCRT (Centre for Corporate Research and Training of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India) Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Mr. S. S. Bhandare, Eminent Economist & Mrs. Nina Kapasi, Chartered Accountant, Mr. A. Lahiri,Dean, ICSI-CCRT were among the key speakers.
